How to use this tool

  1. Load the PDF and review the four available fields.
  2. Edit title, author, subject or keywords; an empty field leaves that standard value blank.
  3. Save the copy and inspect its properties again to verify the change.

An example you can verify

Correct the title displayed in the properties of a PDF copy.

Example input

Previous title: Snipshed sample. New title: Final report.

Expected result

Copy with the new title and the same pages.

Editing metadata can invalidate signatures. It does not remove XMP, attachments or information written inside pages.

Edit PDF metadata: uses and practical guidance

Editing PDF metadata changes descriptive fields such as title, author, subject and keywords. It helps a shared copy carry a clearer identity when opened in a reader or organized in a document collection. These values are part of the PDF’s internal information. Changing them does not rename the downloaded file or rewrite words visibly printed on its pages. Prepare descriptions that reflect the document you are actually distributing.

Choose a meaningful title and avoid adding personal details that do not need to be published. Before saving, check which supported fields should change and which should retain their existing values according to the available options. Correcting an outdated author label can improve identification, but it does not establish new authorship. Descriptive labels can be edited by someone who did not write the content, so they should not be treated as independent evidence of who created the document.

The tool does not remove every possible metadata representation or erase XMP, annotations and other personal information from a PDF. Anonymizing a document requires a broader review than these four fields. Save the copy and inspect its properties again to confirm the supported values. Verify existing signatures, since saving changes can invalidate them. Retain the original and visually check the pages as well: updating descriptive information should still leave the content you intended to share available and readable in the resulting file.

A practical check before using the result

For a trial report, enter clearly recognizable replacement values and inspect the download with PDF properties. This verifies supported fields without depending on a single reader, which may favour file names or other metadata. If a viewer still shows an earlier title, investigate that difference before repeatedly editing values. Ensure the descriptions correspond to the submitted version and avoid keywords unrelated to its content. Record edited fields when several people prepare a document collection. Descriptive consistency helps organization, while actual document content remains the basis for understanding what each file contains.

Settings and limits

Select a PDF, review its existing metadata and edit the title, author, subject and keywords. Save a copy; the original file stays on your device. Maximum 25 MB and 500 pages. Editing a PDF invalidates existing digital signatures. XMP and other document data are not modified.
