JSON to CSV

Convert a JSON array of objects to a downloadable CSV table.

Your files are processed here, on your device

We do not send the contents of your files or text to any server: everything is processed in your browser’s memory. No account is needed, there is no daily quota and we use no analytics or trackers. Each tool has size limits to protect your device’s memory.

A connection is only needed to load the site. After that you can disconnect and the tools keep working (some previews may need the connection). Hosting may receive technical visit data. Favorites store only tool identifiers in this browser.

How we handle your data →

How to use this tool

  1. Paste a JSON array of objects rather than a single object.
  2. Choose a delimiter and review formula protection for the intended use.
  3. Inspect columns, empty cells and nested objects before importing the CSV.

An example you can verify

Prepare an object list for use as a table.

Example input

[{"name":"Ana","age":30}]

SettingsDelimiter: comma. Formula protection enabled.

Expected result

name,age
Ana,30

Nested objects remain JSON within cells. Formula protection adds an apostrophe to potentially executable strings.

JSON to CSV: uses and practical guidance

Converting JSON to CSV presents an array of objects as a textual table. It helps inspect records in a spreadsheet or export data for a system expecting columns. Input must be an array of objects, rather than one isolated object or a list of simple values. Review that structure first and choose the delimiter used by the receiving application. A valid JSON document is not necessarily a suitable table input without this required shape.

Columns include keys found across the records. A property absent from one row can produce an empty cell without removing that record. Nested objects and arrays are represented as JSON inside a cell rather than automatically expanded into many columns. Prepare a deliberate flattening transformation beforehand if a flat table is required. The converter cannot infer which nested relationships should become columns in your particular data model.

Review formula protection according to the intended use. Some spreadsheet programs interpret strings beginning with certain characters as formulas. The protection option reduces that risk under its output rules, but can change how those cells are represented. When a receiving program expects exact text, choose the setting consciously and inspect examples starting with relevant signs. The appropriate choice depends on whether the table will be opened interactively or consumed as literal data.

Import the result using the selected delimiter and check headers, row count, quotes and nested content. The destination may independently convert codes into numbers or infer date formats; configure import types when text must remain text. Keep the source JSON to preserve types and relationships a table represents differently. CSV to JSON provides the reverse conversion, preserving cells as strings that may still require type review.

A practical check before using the result

For export review, use two objects with a missing property and a nested value. Inspect columns and open output in the receiving program with the correct delimiter. Verify its handling of the empty cell and internal JSON. Test potential formula protection using fictitious data before importing the actual collection.

Continue your task

Download the result or copy the text before opening another tool. Then load or paste it into the next step; content is not transferred automatically.

Review table data

Keep codes such as 001 intact when converting to JSON, inspect the data and export when ready.

  1. Convert CSV to JSON
  2. Inspect the JSON
  3. Export back to CSVHere

When opening the CSV in a spreadsheet, import code columns as text to preserve leading zeros.

Settings and limits

Enter a JSON array of objects and choose a delimiter. All keys are included in order of first appearance. Missing properties and null become empty cells; nested objects are serialized as JSON within a cell. Maximum 10,000 rows and 200 columns. Numbers use JavaScript’s usual precision.

Frequently asked questions

What does formula protection do?

It adds an apostrophe to strings that could be interpreted as spreadsheet formulas. This is enabled by default; disable it when you need those strings preserved literally.

Is it free, and do I need to sign up?

Yes, it is free. You do not need to sign up, create an account or install an app, and there is no daily quota: open the tool and use it. The only limits are file sizes, which protect your device’s memory.

Is my data sent to any server?

No. What you type or paste is processed in your browser’s memory and is not sent to any server. You can check it in the browser’s Network tab or by going offline after the page has loaded.
