Trim video

Keep only one segment of a video by setting its start and end, without uploading the file.

MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV · up to 500 MB · processed on your device, the file is never uploaded.

You can also drag a video onto this page.

Enter seconds (90), minutes and seconds (1:30) or hours (1:02:03.5).

Fast: almost instant and no quality loss, but the cut snaps to the video’s keyframes and can be off by a second or two. Precise: cuts at the exact moment and the file is more compatible, but it takes longer because the whole segment is re-encoded.

Trim video: uses and practical guidance

Choose a video, enter the start and end of the segment, and press Trim. Times accept seconds (90), minutes and seconds (1:30) or hours (1:02:03.5). If you leave the end empty, the cut runs to the last frame. There are two cut types. Fast copies the tracks without re-encoding: it is almost instant and loses no quality, but it snaps to keyframes and can be off by a second or two. Precise re-encodes the segment at high quality: it cuts at the exact moment and the file is more compatible, but it takes longer depending on the length. The result keeps the original container (MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV). The original file is not modified and the limit is 500 MB. Check the result in the built-in player before downloading it.

Trim video. The video is opened and processed in your device’s memory and is never sent to a server, so speed depends on your computer and the file size. Copying tracks without re-encoding is almost instant; re-encoding can take several minutes for long or high-resolution videos. While it works, the page shows progress and a cancel button. Keep the tab open and visible until it finishes, because some browsers slow down background tabs. The 500 MB limit protects device memory. If the file is larger, split it into parts first. The original is never modified: the tool creates a new file that you download.

Trim video. Play the complete result before using it: check that picture and sound stay in sync, that no seconds are missing at the start or end, and that quality is sufficient for your purpose. Open the file in another player or in the application where you will publish it, because every platform has its own limits for duration, size and format. If the result does not play, try MP4, the most compatible format. Always keep the original video until you have verified the new one, and do not overwrite the source file. If the video contains personal data, remember that this tool does not hide faces or voices: it only changes the file.
