Hello world
11 characters, 10 without spaces and 2 words.
Combined emoji may count as multiple Unicode code points. Another platform’s limit may use a different rule.
A character and word counter helps prepare text with a length limit, such as a product description, abstract, profile or form response. Identify what the destination measures before shortening anything. A character limit differs from a word limit, and a byte limit differs from the number of visible letters. Choose the appropriate count so you are comparing quantities that represent the same thing. The form’s own validation remains a useful final check.
This tool counts characters as Unicode code points. A letter with a combining mark or an emoji composed of several components may contain multiple code points while looking like one symbol. The count without spaces also excludes tabs and line breaks. Consequently, two versions with the same words can produce different character totals when one contains additional spacing or uses different paragraph separators. Visual appearance alone does not determine how the underlying string is counted.
Words are segmented using the language of the page. This is useful for reviewing text length, but does not necessarily duplicate the rules of every social network, word processor or submission portal. Check the final version in the receiving system when a strict limit matters. Lines and paragraphs describe different aspects of the text: inserting a line break does not always create a new paragraph containing words.
When editing a summary, remove repetition while retaining information that answers the reader’s question. Review the new count, then read the complete text to ensure it still makes sense. Paste only what will actually be submitted; titles, signatures and labels also count when included in the same field. Use Reading time when the question concerns duration instead of length, since that tool interprets the word total using a configurable reading pace.
For a length limited field, try a sample containing an accented word, emoji and line break. Compare its total with the destination’s counter. If they differ, identify each counting unit before randomly shortening the text. A platform may use special rules for links or symbols that this tool does not reproduce. Allow room for changes after pasting and check the version actually saved. For editorial review, record the word total and the passage included in the count as well. This keeps comparisons between drafts consistent instead of combining one version’s headings with another version’s body. Exact scope matters as much as the final number.
Download the result or copy the text before opening another tool. Then load or paste it into the next step; content is not transferred automatically.
