Split odd and even PDF pages

Save odd pages, even pages, or both as separate PDFs.

Private: it runs in your browser and your file is never uploaded. How to check it

Add your PDFThe tool detects how many odd and even pages the file contains.

Your files are processed here, on your device

We do not send the contents of your files or text to any server: everything is processed in your browser’s memory. No account is needed, there is no daily quota and we use no analytics or trackers. Each tool has size limits to protect your device’s memory.

A connection is only needed to load the site. After that you can disconnect and the tools keep working (some previews may need the connection). Hosting may receive technical visit data. Favorites store only tool identifiers in this browser.

How to use this tool

  1. Count positions from the first sheet, including the cover.
  2. Choose Both, Even only or Odd only.
  3. Check sheet labels in each result before printing.

An example you can verify

Separate odd and even positions to inspect a scan or prepare two page groups.

Example input

5-page document; save both groups.

Expected result

Odd: 1,3,5. Even: 2,4.

Parity uses the position in the file, not the printed number. A cover changes the relationship between them.

Split odd and even PDF pages: uses and practical guidance

Separating odd and even PDF pages groups sheets by their position inside the file. The first page belongs to the odd group even when it displays another printed number or contains an unnumbered cover. This distinction matters when preparing manual duplex printing, reviewing two scan sequences or checking how fronts and backs alternate in a combined document. The operation follows file positions rather than interpreting labels printed on the pages.

In a seven page PDF, positions 1, 3, 5 and 7 form one group, while positions 2, 4 and 6 form the other. Relative order within each group is retained. Removing a cover before separation changes the parity of every later page. Decide whether that cover should participate before creating the groups. An odd total naturally leaves the odd group with one additional page; that difference is not necessarily a sign of an incomplete scan.

Open both downloaded results and compare them against the original. For printing, paper orientation and feeding order depend on your printer, so test a few sheets before processing a large batch. Interleave PDFs can alternate pages from the two groups when you need to reconstruct a combined document. Separation does not identify physical sheet sides, insert missing backs or adjust a printer’s settings. It classifies only the page positions already present in the PDF you loaded.

A practical check before using the result

For manual double sided printing, create a short test with large page numbers and a mark showing the upper edge. This reveals whether paper must be turned and which order is needed for the second group. Do not infer feeding behaviour from a different printer, since mechanisms can differ. Keep instructions from the successful test alongside the document. If the input includes an extra cover, check parity again before applying the same procedure to the entire batch. Page grouping and physical paper handling are separate parts of the printing workflow.

Settings and limits

Choose Both, Even only or Odd only. Page numbering starts at 1.

Up to 120 MB and 500 pages per document. Output copies also support up to 500 pages. Encrypted PDFs are unsupported. Check links, forms, annotations and signatures after editing a document. Available memory may require smaller batches.

Frequently asked questions

Does it use numbers printed within sheets?

No. It uses physical positions in the file starting at 1. An unnumbered cover also counts.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Your file and result are processed locally in your browser. No account is needed.

Is it free, and do I need to sign up?

Yes, it is free. You do not need to sign up, create an account or install an app, and there is no daily quota: open the tool and use it. The only limits are file sizes, which protect your device’s memory.

Does it leave a watermark on the result?

No. Snipshed adds no watermark, logo or text of its own to the files you download: the result is yours exactly as you configured it.

Is quality lost?

No. Pages are copied as they are into the new PDF, without recompressing text, images or graphics, so quality is identical to the original.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, from your phone’s browser (Safari, Chrome…) and without installing any app. When it finishes, the file is saved from the browser itself: on iPhone it appears in the Files app and on Android in Downloads. With very large files the phone may run out of memory; try a smaller file or a computer.
