Extract audio from video: uses and practical guidance
Choose a video with sound and the output format. WAV keeps the audio uncompressed, with large files that almost any program can open. M4A uses AAC and OGG uses Opus, both lossy and much smaller. Each format is available only if your browser can encode it. The first audio track of the video is used and the picture is discarded. Use it to save an interview, a lesson or a song from your own recording. If the video has no audio, a notice is shown. It does not separate voices from music or remove noise. The input limit is 500 MB.
Extract audio from video. The video is opened and processed in your device’s memory and is never sent to a server, so speed depends on your computer and the file size. Copying tracks without re-encoding is almost instant; re-encoding can take several minutes for long or high-resolution videos. While it works, the page shows progress and a cancel button. Keep the tab open and visible until it finishes, because some browsers slow down background tabs. The 500 MB limit protects device memory. If the file is larger, split it into parts first. The original is never modified: the tool creates a new file that you download.
Extract audio from video. Play the complete result before using it: check that picture and sound stay in sync, that no seconds are missing at the start or end, and that quality is sufficient for your purpose. Open the file in another player or in the application where you will publish it, because every platform has its own limits for duration, size and format. If the result does not play, try MP4, the most compatible format. Always keep the original video until you have verified the new one, and do not overwrite the source file. If the video contains personal data, remember that this tool does not hide faces or voices: it only changes the file.

Frequently asked questions
Is it free, and do I need to sign up?
Yes, it is free. You do not need to sign up, create an account or install an app, and there is no daily quota: open the tool and use it. The only limits are file sizes, which protect your device’s memory.
Does it leave a watermark on the result?
No. Snipshed adds no watermark, logo or text of its own to the files you download: the result is yours exactly as you configured it.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, from your phone’s browser (Safari, Chrome…) and without installing any app. When it finishes, the file is saved from the browser itself: on iPhone it appears in the Files app and on Android in Downloads. With very large files the phone may run out of memory; try a smaller file or a computer. Video operations need a recent browser with WebCodecs, such as current versions of Safari and Chrome.
