How to use this tool

  1. Enter integer minimum and maximum values.
  2. Choose how many values to generate.
  3. Check the range; repeats are valid and both endpoints may appear.

An example you can verify

Get integers within an interval for an exercise or simple random draw.

Example input

Minimum 1; maximum 6; count 3.

Expected result

Three integers between 1 and 6; repetitions are possible.

Both endpoints are included. Shuffle a list to order participants without repeating their positions.

Random numbers: uses and practical guidance

Generating random numbers helps prepare test data, choose a position or simulate outcomes within an interval. The tool uses integers and accepts a minimum, maximum and quantity. Both endpoints are included. Define the range according to the problem first: one through six can represent die faces, while a list indexed from zero requires a different lower bound. Correct interpretation starts with those limits rather than with the numbers produced afterwards.

Repetition is possible. Requesting several values does not create a sample without duplicates, and a later generation can match earlier output. A short sequence alone does not demonstrate a pattern or a failure of randomness. Random list picker offers selection without repeated options when that is required. Shuffle list changes the order of all existing entries instead. These are related tasks with different rules for preserving items and allowing repetition.

The browser’s cryptographic random source chooses values within the supported range. Safe integer and interval width limits avoid representations the logic cannot handle. Do not enter fractional quantities or a scale unsuitable for the intended simulation. The tool does not create a customized statistical distribution or establish complete statistical properties from one small output. A generated batch is data for your workflow, not an analysis of every possible outcome.

Check quantity and verify that every number lies within the endpoints. Save the output when the same test dataset must be reused, since generating again does not guarantee reproduction. Use list picker for named options and Random dates for calendar values. Results do not include certified draw evidence or a verifiable log of all operations. Document a separate procedure when the activity requires that kind of traceability.

A practical check before using the result

For a simulation, define record quantity and the meaning of both endpoints before generating. If numbers represent positions, verify that every position exists in the actual list and that indexing starts at the same base. Zero can be valid in a technical index but correspond to no label in a human numbered list. Save the set for repeat testing and inspect duplicates according to the objective rather than removing them automatically. Consider what repeated values mean within the simulation. Do not infer a complete distribution from a few values or present one batch as evidence that every option appeared equally. A random sample may be uneven, and interpretation requires more than observing its first few entries.

Settings and limits

Enter a minimum, a maximum and the number of values you need. Endpoints are included and values may repeat. Web Crypto uses rejection sampling to avoid modulo bias.
