How we handle your data →How to use this tool
- Select the start and end dates.
- Calculate the calendar-day difference.
- To count both endpoints, add one to a nonnegative difference.
An example you can verify
Count calendar days between two deliveries or dates.
Example input
Start: 2026-03-28 End: 2026-03-30
Expected result
2 days.
No extra day is added for counting both endpoints and holidays are not excluded. Calculation avoids daylight-saving effects.
Days between dates: uses and practical guidance
Calculating days between dates measures the separation of two calendar days. It can organize a project, compare durations or check an interval in an exercise. The tool uses dates rather than times of day. Its output is the difference between the endpoints. Selecting the same date twice gives zero separation even though that date may represent one day included in a plan. Decide which interpretation the task actually requires before using the number.
Distinguish difference from inclusive counting. Monday to the following Tuesday is one day apart; counting both days as included dates gives two. Adding one to a nonnegative difference yields that inclusive endpoint count. Do not add it automatically without checking the convention. A final date before the initial date can produce a negative difference, expressing direction rather than a positive duration. Retain the endpoints to make that meaning clear.
The calculation counts calendar days, including weekends and holidays. It is not a working day calendar and does not determine administrative deadline rules. It also does not measure actual hours between timezone aware instants. Seasonal clock changes can affect elapsed hours without changing calendar date separation. Use an explicit timezone representation and an appropriate time calculation when the question concerns instants rather than dates alone.
Check date order and try a known interval before interpreting the output. Store the two endpoints with the day count so its context is retained. Add or subtract days addresses the reverse workflow when you have a starting date and a displacement. If certain days must be excluded, prepare a suitable calendar instead of treating this calendar day difference as a business day count.
A practical check before using the result
For a sample plan, first try consecutive dates and then the same date in both fields. These references clarify separation versus included days. Next test an interval crossing a month boundary to check interpretation. State explicitly whether both endpoints are counted and whether another procedure excludes days when results will be shared. Do not mix calendar and working day totals without identifying the difference. Retain an unambiguous date representation to avoid reversing day and month when copying from another source. If elapsed hours are needed, prepare timezone aware instants rather than inferring that duration solely from this calendar separation. The intended counting convention belongs alongside the result whenever it is used in planning.
Settings and limits
The start date is subtracted from the end date. No extra day is added to count both endpoints. Dates use UTC to avoid daylight-saving changes.
Frequently asked questions
Does daylight saving affect the result?
No. Calendar dates are compared at midnight UTC. An earlier end date produces a negative number.
Is it free, and do I need to sign up?
Yes, it is free. You do not need to sign up, create an account or install an app, and there is no daily quota: open the tool and use it. The only limits are file sizes, which protect your device’s memory.
Is my data sent to any server?
No. What you type or paste is processed in your browser’s memory and is not sent to any server. You can check it in the browser’s Network tab or by going offline after the page has loaded.
