Rotate and flip image
Rotate an image and mirror it horizontally or vertically.
Private: it runs in your browser and your file is never uploaded. How to check it
Up to 25 MB · 40 megapixels · 16,384 px per side. Processed locally.
You can also drag or paste (Ctrl+V) an image onto this page.

Reprocessing can change metadata and color profiles. JPG does not preserve transparency. Inspect background and opacity in the preview; each tool’s settings determine the result.
Your files are processed here, on your device
We do not send the contents of your files or text to any server: everything is processed in your browser’s memory. No account is needed, there is no daily quota and we use no analytics or trackers. Each tool has size limits to protect your device’s memory.
A connection is only needed to load the site. After that you can disconnect and the tools keep working (some previews may need the connection). Hosting may receive technical visit data. Favorites store only tool identifiers in this browser.
How we handle your data →How to use this tool
- Load the image and choose 0°, 90°, 180° or 270°.
- Enable flips only when you need to mirror an output axis.
- Check lettering and orientation, then download the copy.
An example you can verify
Correct an image’s orientation or mirror it for a design.
Example input
400 × 200 px image; 90° rotation.
Expected result
200 × 400 px image.
Flips use the output axes after rotation. Check lettering and logos, which may become mirrored.
Rotate and flip image: uses and practical guidance
Rotating and flipping an image corrects a sideways photograph or creates a reflection for a graphic composition. These are different transformations: rotation changes orientation by an angle, while flipping mirrors an axis. A photograph may need a ninety degree turn without any reflection. Select each option according to the intended effect and inspect the preview before exporting, especially when a combination of settings is applied.
Rotation direction determines where the upper edge ends up. Ninety and two hundred seventy degrees produce opposite orientations; one hundred eighty degrees turns the image upside down. A ninety degree turn also exchanges width and height. Check this when the destination requires specific dimensions. Reflection can reverse lettering on a sign or the side of a component, even when the subject itself looks plausible in the resulting picture.
The tool applies flips to the rotated result as described in its controls. When combining operations, inspect an easily recognized reference, such as a word or an object originally positioned on the left. That reference makes it easier to determine whether the final effect matches your intention. Right angle rotations do not straighten a scan tilted by a few degrees; that requires an editor offering finer rotation or deskew controls.
Open the downloaded image and verify orientation, lettering and dimensions. If cropping follows, calculate coordinates from the content’s position in the transformed image. Keep the source to avoid confusing a creative reflection with a correction to the original capture. Rotate PDF is appropriate for document pages, allowing orientation changes within that container rather than converting a page to an image simply to turn it. Confirm the copy in the application where it will actually be used.
A practical check before using the result
A sample containing a word and arrow makes rotations and reflections unambiguous. Check whether lettering remains readable and where the arrow points after options are combined. For photographic correction, compare with the original scene to avoid accidentally exchanging sides. Inspect width and height when the destination requires a particular orientation. Record transformations across a series because similar looking images may need opposite turns. Return to sources for new variants rather than inferring another operation from a copy whose earlier treatment is unknown. The reference word is particularly useful for distinguishing a correctly rotated image from one that has also been mirrored without intention.
Settings and limits
Choose a clockwise rotation of 90°, 180° or 270°, or no rotation for flipping only. Flips use the output axes after rotation.
Frequently asked questions
Do the dimensions change?
90° and 270° rotations exchange width and height. 180° rotation and flips retain the dimensions.
Is it free, and do I need to sign up?
Yes, it is free. You do not need to sign up, create an account or install an app, and there is no daily quota: open the tool and use it. The only limits are file sizes, which protect your device’s memory.
Does it leave a watermark on the result?
No. Snipshed adds no watermark, logo or text of its own to the files you download: the result is yours exactly as you configured it.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, from your phone’s browser (Safari, Chrome…) and without installing any app. When it finishes, the file is saved from the browser itself: on iPhone it appears in the Files app and on Android in Downloads. With very large files the phone may run out of memory; try a smaller file or a computer.
